I was so delighted last night to win BIPP Regional Pet Photographer of the Year for the second year running, and to win BIPP regional Fashion Photographer of the Year on top of the MPA regional Fashion award I won in September… However, the icing on the cake was the overall Photographer of the Year Award. Thank you to Bob, Competition Secretary, and Russell Baston FBIPP, our esteemed judge. I also received Awards of Excellence in Advertising and Weddings. Thank you to Guinness the Dog, and to my lovely models, Tasmin and Aimee… It was also lovely to catch up with so many other professional photographers from around the region, a very good night all round!!!

It’s competition news time… again! MPA Regional Wedding Awards… Judging took place today in Ashburton, and the Judges were multi-award-winning Irish photographers, Paddy & Emma Clarke. Sorcha won 1st and 2nd place in the Engaged Couple category, 1st for the second year running in the category “You and Your Wedding”, judged on a panel of 10 images from one wedding, and a Merit in Reportage. I can’t post the “10 from 1″ until Saturday until the Bride & Groom, Kate & Steve, come for their viewing, but I definitely will then… Remember, all of our wedding couples experience a complimentary pre-wedding shoot which usually results in beautiful, informal images, and helps us all to get to know each other before the big day… Thank you to Kate & Steve, Emma & Luke and Elaine & Jason… Congratulations to you all… And well done to the other winners today, a good show all round!

Just back from the MPA SW Regional Print competition… It all went very well! I was delighted to win the MPA South West Fashion Photographer of the Year award with this image of Aimee at the National Marine Aquarium; especially satisfying since the judge was fashion photographer Eliot Siegel!

I also came 1st & 3rd in the Pictorial Category with Let the Dance Begin and Burano, 2nd in Commercial with another image from the Aquarium Shoot, and 2 merits in Pets… Looking forward to the wedding categories in November!

We had a wonderful evening last Wednesday doing a shoot on Wembury Beach for images to use on my vouchers for the Crescent Specialist Dental Centre and Prudence Gowns. We were thrilled to have Tasmin Head model for us. Tasmin was unable to model for me a couple of months ago due to serious illness, but thankfully, as you can see, she has made a miraculous recovery and looks fabulous, don’t you think? Her hair and make-up were done by Emma and Louise at Peace Salon on Peverell Park Road, dresses provided by Prudence Gowns, teeth as good as they are because of the Crescent!!!

I was surprised, but delighted, to be invited on to the committee of our region of the British Institute of Professional Photographers. I will be working with a rather dynamic and fun group of individuals who works very hard for the greater good of photography and Photographers in the Western Region. I am looking forward to my first committee meeting next Tuesday after the Photovision Roadshow in Bristol…
